Christine Chiu, LMFT

My name is Christine Chiu and I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.  Since 2007, I have worked in private practice, serving the SF & Bay Area communities. My specialties include: Abuse & Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Identity Formation, Life Transitions, Relationship Issues, and Spiritual/Emotional Health.  Prior to pursuing therapy, I spent five years working in Human Resources (at Sony Pictures Entertainment and Renaissance Parc 55 Hotel), and completed my Certificate in HR Management, expanding my career counseling and coaching skills.

My vision is to support, educate, and encourage individuals and families toward emotional health and restoration.  My approach to healing is integrative, depending on the clients needs.  I value a culturally-sensitive approach to counseling, and will intentionally consider one’s background, faith, and experiences when working with individuals and families.  My experience and training draw from various approaches including: Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Dialectical Behavioral therapy.  I especially enjoy integrating one’s spiritual journey into the therapy process if this is of particular interest to the client.

In addition to therapy, I’ve had the privilege to teach courses on Basic Counseling and Emotional Health in the Bay Area and in China.  Our communities are foundational in the healing journey and it is important for all of us to be compassionate healers and advocates of emotional health.  For a list of my workshops and presentations, please view my Curriculum Vitae.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
